Edward P. Hammond, 80, formerly of Salineville died at the Rose Lane Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Edward was born in Eddyville KY on August 31, 1942 a son of the late Otho Hammond and Jeannie Harper Hammond. He lived in Eddyville, Ky until 1987 when he moved to Canton, Oh and then Salineville, Oh in 1999.
Edward served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era 1961-1967 including time at sea on the USS Boxer. He owned and operated Hammond Construction in KY for 40 years and would later be a member of the Union Local Akron, Oh for 10 years until his retirement. He served as an elder at Christian Ministries church and then served as a pastor of the Greenbrier Church in Mechanicstown for a brief time.
Edward is survived by his wife Lottie (Tyrie) Hammond whom he married on December 23, 1961; three daughters: Paula Kannam (Jim) of Canton, Peggy Kreps (Todd) of Uniontown, Sharon Rice (Ned) of Massillon and five grandchildren: Victoria Kreps, Kelsie Rice, Austin Kannam, Nathan Rice and Faith Seders.
In addition to his parents Edward was preceded in death by two brothers: Jimmie (Jimbo) Hammond and Billy Hammond.
Services will be held at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home Salineville on Saturday August 26, 2023 at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Corinth Presbyterian Cemetery.
The Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday August 26, 2023 from 12pm up until the time of service at 2 pm.
