James Needham, 86, of Salineville died on June 24, 2023 at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Jim was born in Salineville on March 31, 1937 a son of the late John P Needham and Jean (Kennedy) Needham. Having lived all his life in the area Jim was a graduate of Salineville High School Class of 1955. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1960 and was stationed in Germany as an MP. He was a member of the Salineville American Legion Post #442 and also served on the Honor Guard. He was a member of the Salineville Volunteer Fire Department from 1964-1990 and served as the Chief from 1984-1990. He worked for General Telephone for many years and would retire from First Energy/Ohio Edison Sammis Plant.
Jim is survived by his wife Ethel (Williams) Needham whom he married in 1983; a Step Son: Steve Bennett (Terri) of Salineville; a granddaughter: Cheyenne Bennett; four sisters: Jennifer Leffler (David) , Jackie Weston, Jill French and Jeannette Catlett (Randy) all of Salineville; two brothers: Joel Needham (Cathy) of Hanoverton and Jan Needham (Candi-Companion) of Guilford Lake. Jim also leaves many nieces and nephews that always found him to be a good source of advice.
In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by two sisters: JoAnne Blosser, Jeanie Needham, and four brothers: Jeffery Needham, Jerry Needham, Jody Kim Needham and Jon “Tad” Needham.
Services will be held at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home on Thursday June 29, 2023 at 11AM with Rev. Irv Hoover Officiating. Burial will follow in woodland Cemetery with Veteran Honors.
