Jon “Tad” Needham

Jon “Tad” P. Needham, 83, of Salineville passed away on Tuesday July 19, 2022 in the Arbors of Minerva, OH.

He was born on June 10, 1939 the 3rd of 13 children. Son of the late John P Needham and Jean Kennedy Needham.

Having lived most of his life in the area Tad was a graduate of Salineville High School class of 1957, where he participated in football and basketball. He was a Veteran of The United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War.

Jon was given the nickname “Tad” when he was just a baby by his Grandmother Mabel Needham because she said he looked like a tadpole at birth. The “pole” was eventually dropped and Jon remained “Tad” for the rest of his life. 

Tad loved the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians sports teams and Ohio State football. He and his friend Dick Wilson followed the Southern Local High School Football Team. The two of them were always somewhere on the fence-line watching the games under the Friday night lights. He also enjoyed fishing in his free time. 

Tad worked the last 40 years as a truck driver. The last 20 of which had been with Hidden Valley Transportation of Salineville.

Every Sunday Morning Tad joined a crew of guys at BK Beverage for coffee. Tad really enjoyed teasing people and always carried a big smile on his face.

Tad will be missed by his two sons: Thomas Michael Needham of Louisville and Douglas (Melissa) Needham of Minerva; three :brothers James (Eppie) Needham of Salineville, Joel (Cathy) Needham of Hanoverton and Jan (Candi) Needham of Guilford Lake; four sisters: Jennifer (David) Leffler of Salineville, Jackie Weston of Salineville, Jill French of Salineville and Jeannette (Randy) Catlett of Salineville; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; twenty three nieces and nephews and 45 great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Tad was preceded in death by two sisters: JoAnne Blosser and Jeanne Needham; three brothers: Jeffry Needham, Jerry Needham and Jody “Kim” Needham. 

No formal services were held at Tad’s request.
