Russell Lewis Obituary

Russel Frank Lewis of Salineville, OH, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60.  His sudden departure, after completing his morning chores, has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born in East Liverpool, OH, on November 9, 1963, Russell resided in the cherished family home built by his father Harold Cecil Lewis and mother Marjorie Josephine Lewis (deceased). In his early years, he tended to the family farm, where he raised and cared for dairy cows, chickens, and pigs. Later in life, with his selfless nature, he became a caregiver for his parents and then later his younger sister. Russell had a deep connection to the land, animals, and embodied the true essence of family devotion.

Russell is survived by his loving older siblings: Judy (Lewis) and Wayne Snyder of Salem, Rita (Lewis) and Scott Lab of Alliance, Randy and Debbie Lewis of Louisville, and Myra (Lewis) and Mike Allison of Salineville. He was preceded in death by his parents, younger sister Tina Lewis of Salineville, and older brother Tim Lewis of Salineville and nephew JJ Pahanish-Allison

Among his many joys, Russell found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was best known for his ability to fix and make things, starting young with toy cars and progressing to fixing old Chevy trucks, tractors, 4-wheelers, and lawn mowers in his later years. He enjoyed fishing and setting off fireworks on the Fourth of July. Family gatherings during the holidays were legendary, earning him the coveted title of first pick during the traditional game of kickball or baseball.

In his later years, Russell enjoyed sitting in his home, listening to country music, and calling his family each day. Though he did not have children of his own, he earned the title of beloved uncle and was considered a father figure to his beloved nieces and nephews. His guidance and love knew no bounds. He will be especially missed by Michelle and Monica Allison, Sylvia McElroy, Kyle Sams, Angela Rush, Kimberly Menard and Melinda Godbuot.  Plus, all his great nieces and nephews.

Russell F. Lewis will leave behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. He will be forever cherished and remembered. Services will be held at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home on Friday, April 19th at  7 PM  with Pastor Ted Ludwig officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 5pm up until the time of service at 7pm. A special service and reception will be  held at Everyone’s Welcome Church directly after. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Kerr Watson Funeral Home to assist the family.
